Meet Portland Chapter President Angie Wallace
Our new UWAA Portland chapter President Angie Wallace, ’06, succeeds past president Will Rasmussen, '02, '06, who is now the chapter vice president. Together this dynamic duo is rockin’ the Portland area in purple and gold! Angie grew up all over, living in Reno, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Deale, Md. and Port Orchard, Wash. She attended Southern Senior High school in Maryland and South Kitsap in Port Orchard. During her senior year she applied to only one school—the University of Washington—and got accepted! She is the first person in her family to graduate from college (having earned a B.A. in philosophy) and her parents are extremely proud and excited for her. While at the UW, Angie was extremely engaged in campus life: she joined sorority Alpha Chi Omega and participated in various ASUW activities, such as UWers, 2002 Homecoming and UW faculty committees. She also worked at the Graduate and Professional Student Senate as an office manager. This busy bee was true Husky in the making! Of her most memorable accomplishments, Angie says "having the opportunity to meet and interact with the University administration and student leadership was very inspiring for me. Seeing me graduate gave my dad an indescribable sense of pride and gave me a great sense of accomplishment. Also, one year I ended up at President [Mark] Emmert's house for a Regents dinner on my birthday. Having the whole Board of Regents and the President and [wife] DeLaine sing me 'Happy Birthday' was pretty remarkable!" Today the onetime birthday girl is an administrator in a private equity firm in Portland. In February, the UWAA Portland chapter held its annual Husky Night with Brandon Roy and Angie did a marvelous job putting on this event for all UW Portland Huskies. On behalf of the University of Washington Alumni Association, we want to thank Angie for her efforts to keep purple and gold alive in Portland. Thanks Angie! Keep up all the great work!
