Each subcommittee will keep in mind several key issues:

Learning Objectives
As a starting point, the committee is considering the following "learning objectives" - these include sophistication/competency in:

  1. Learning/research/discovery (and the ability for lifelong learning)
  2. Cultural diversity
  3. International/global issues
  4. Commitment to community, community engagement
  5. Understanding the importance of UW
  6. Technology

This is a preliminary list and is not meant to be the definitive list of learning objectives.

People
We need to consider the epxreiences and interactions of everyone in the UW community - students, faculty, and staff - in connection with the university's broad mission for learning and discovery. We also need to think about the University's links to the broader community (city, region, state, world).

Where does learning occur?
The UW Student Educational Experience at UW takes place not only in the classroom, but in many other places as well - including (but not limited to):

  • Living places (dorms, fraternities, and sororities)
  • Extra curricular activities, engagement
  • Study support
  • Student services (e.g. financial, emotional, etc.)
  • Student clubs, student government
  • Etc.

This is a preliminary list and is not meant to be the definitive list of the many places where learning occurs.
