Six UW undergrads selected as Fulbright Scholars

Undergraduate Academic Affairs

Of the 1,900 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad in 2015-16 through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, nine hail from the University of Washington, and six of them are undergraduates!

The Fulbright Program for U.S. students is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students to undertake international study, advanced research and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.

Five of the six UW Scholars were selected to be English Teaching Assistants (ETAs). Shannon Foss, Jade Graddy, Richard Ruoff, Katherine Schroeder and Clara Summers will be placed in classrooms in Romania, Jordan, Turkey, Russia, and Indonesia respectively to offer support to local English language teachers. Sharon Newman was awarded a research grant to study neuroprosthetic devices in Germany.
