“Jason brings steady, proven leadership to this critical role, positioning the UW for sustained excellence in financial management,” Jones said. “His unwavering commitment to strategic financial stewardship will be instrumental as he leads the charge in advancing our institution’s fiscal integrity and operational effectiveness.”

Since joining the UW in 2017, Campbell has demonstrated reliable, consistent leadership while assuming increasingly complex portfolios of responsibility, advancing the capabilities of UW’s distributed finance operations. He has built effective financial modeling and improved budget operations and business processes. His leadership during COVID was instrumental in structuring a successful FEMA emergency funding grant application that resulted in $30 million in initial COVID grant awards.

“He leads with a broad strategic vision of central finance’s role in advancing mission and access. As a steady, authentic leader who puts people first, he remains focused on driving operational excellence through improved financial transparency and data-informed decision-making,” Serio said.

Prior to joining the UW, Campbell held senior leadership roles in higher education administration, including associate vice president for business and finance at the Keck Graduate Institute, a member of The Claremont Colleges, and senior director of operations for the Western University of Health Sciences.

“It is a privilege to continue serving the UW in this capacity and I am grateful for the trust placed in me. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the community in our shared work to advance the UW’s mission,” Campbell said.

Campbell received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree in accounting from California State University, Sacramento.
