Institute for Ethnic Studies in the United States open for applications

The Institute for Ethnic Studies in the United States (IESUS) invites applications from University of Washington faculty members who are engaged in or are beginning projects on ethnic issues in the United States. The deadline for applications is Monday, Nov. 15. Undergraduate, graduate and professional school students* planning to take intensive foreign language** courses during Summer 2011 and/or intending to study foreign language and area or international studies during Academic Year 2011-12, mark your calendars for one of the above sessions and R.S.V.P. to macurtis@uw.edu
 
Each workshop will cover FLAS fellowship benefits and requirements, the application process, and how awards may be used for study in the U.S. or abroad.
 
Summer awards for all fellows pay tuition up to $5,000, plus a $2,500 stipend. Travel money up to $1,000 is usually available, but is not guaranteed.
 
Academic year awards grant tuition up to $10,000 for undergraduates, plus a $5,000 stipend. Graduate students receive tuition up to $18,000 and a stipend of $15,000.
