Posters on the theme of ‘goodbye’ exhibiting at the Parnassus Cafe

Two UW graduate students in the School of Art raised $2,000 for charity last November with their Hello Poster Show at the Parnassus Cafe, an exhibit of posters each bearing that friendly greeting. Now comes the sequel: “Goodbye,” which will run from April 29 through May 15.

The students are Ben Shown and Alanna MacGowan. It was their idea last November to do a show of more than 30 19×26-inch silkscreened prints each with the word “hello.” Now they’re back with a second show featuring the art of UW students, faculty and alumni, as well as other designers — each onthe theme of “goodbye.”

The show will open with a reception from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, in the cafe, which is Room 7 of the School of Art Building.

The exhibit will feature work by David Bates, Karen Cheng, Lily Donovan-Seid, Joey Flynn, Tom Futrell, Kinsey Gross, Stuart Haury, Erik Hedberg, Eli Heuer, Jessica Katona, Joseph King, Cassie Klingler, Jodie Laczko, Ben Mabry, Anasazi Mendoza, Katrina Mendoza, Derek Shimizu, Lizzy Showman, Jonny Sikov, Jeff Wilkson and Felix Wang.

All the posters will be for sale for $10 each. All proceeds will benefit 826 Seattle, a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping youth, ages six to 18, improve their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
