Pianist Craig Sheppard will begin a chronological journey through Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas at a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 in Meany Hall. The following sonatas are on the program: Op. 2, No. 1 in F minor; Op. 2, No. 2 in A; Op. 2, No. 3 in C; and Op. 7 in E flat.
“This recital series presents a journey through Beethoven’s mind and spirit, a metaphor for the unique journey and metamorphosis that encapsulates each of our own personal lives,” Sheppard says.
Sheppard will give six other concerts to complete the Beethoven series. Parts two and three will be on March 17 and May 21; the others will be during the 2003-2004 academic year.
