Congratulations on your student’s admission to the UW! It’s an achievement to be proud of — and we know you’ve been an essential part of all the steps leading up to this moment. The college decision can be both exciting and overwhelming for students and their families. But rest assured that while the UW is large, it’s not impersonal — we help students find their smaller community of peers and mentors based on their interests and goals. And for families, we offer a wealth of resources to help you make an informed decision and stay as involved as you’d like once your student becomes a Husky. Our Office of Parent & Family Programs is here to provide you with information and resources as you and your Husky embark on this life-changing journey.

The Office of Parent & Family Programs looks forward to meeting many of our new parents and families. We welcome all who have helped guide, care for and love a UW student. You are part of our UW family. We are your partners in staying connected to the UW, with resources and information as your Husky begins their first year and through graduation.

Family Orientation

One of the great ways we helps our students and families have a strong start at the UW is through Family Orientation. Whether your family lives 5 or 5,000 miles from campus, we want to make sure that all parents and families have access to resources and information in support of their student’s success.

• There is no additional charge for access to Family Orientation resources.
• Students must register family members for orientation when they register for an Advising & Orientation session in May.
• Sessions are offered June through September for autumn admits and in December for winter admits.
