We are not looking for a specific bachelor’s degree. While there are certainly types of degrees that are common amongst our applicants (e.g., art history, anthropology, history…), we pride ourselves on being an interdisciplinary program. We’re excited when we see a degree that some might find unexpected.
An academic recommender should be someone who taught you in a class. While someone who served as an advisor or supervised an on-campus internship may be able to provide a good recommendation, for us it’s only an academic letter of recommendation if they also taught you in a class.
You can’t. We do not accept general writing samples.
Technically, yes. But not in a way that would shorten your time to degree. The UW Graduate School allows students to transfer up to 6 credits. Museology students complete a total of 60 credits. All Museology students start in fall quarter and complete 6 quarters of coursework.
No, Museology does not accept applications for Graduate Non-Matriculated enrollment.
Our priority application deadline is January 15th. We accept applications through June 15th.
No. We recommend establishing your profile in the application portal at your earliest convenience, even if you don’t plan to finalize and submit your application until early January. Doing so will leave you ample time to ask questions or reach out to us for assistance if you encounter any issues, and it will also allow you to designate your recommenders early and give them plenty of time to submit their recommendations.
While you don’t want to wait until the last minute to submit your application, you may also want to wait until late December or early January to submit your application. Once you’ve submitted it, you won’t be able to make edits to your submission. So, if you submit in early November and then you wake up in late December struck by inspiration for an amazing story to tell in your personal statement, you won’t be able to do anything about it.
No. Museology is a full-time, in-person program. We are unable to offer remote or hybrid modalities, and our program isn’t designed to be completed while working full-time. Museology students must be enrolled in a minimum of 10 academic credits* per quarter to maintain their status as a Museology student.
No. Museology utilizes a cohort model. Typically, our cohorts consist of around 30 students. All admitted students commence study in the Autumn Quarter.
