UW Livable City Year selects Bellevue as next partner
The University of Washington Livable City Year program has selected the City of Bellevue as a community partner for the next academic year. The year-long partnership connects city staff with UW students and faculty to collaborate on projects that advance the Bellevue City Council Vision Priorities, specifically those around livability and sustainability. The UW Livable City Year program launched in the 2016–2017 academic year. Previous city partners include the City of Auburn and the City of Tacoma.Read more on the Livable City Year website.
University of Washington graduate and professional disciplines rank highly in US News’ Best Graduate School lists
Nearly 50 different graduate and professional programs and specialties at the University of Washington are among the top 10 in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 Best Graduate School rankings released March 20. Medicine, nursing, social work, computer science and public affairs received prominent placement in the newest rankings. Read more from UW News.
Legislature adjourned after budget work completed
Last week, the Washington State Legislature passed the 2017-19 supplemental operating and capital budgets to Governor Inslee, marking the end of the 60-day legislative session. Read more about the completed budgets from the Office of State Relations.

College of the Environment geology field camp
At the College of the Environment’s geology field camp, students hit the dirt for experiences you can’t find in a textbook. Over six weeks, students mapped, surveyed and explored an area informally known as the Rat’s Nest, near Montana’s Block Mountain, as part of the Department of Earth and Space Science’s geology field camp.
