First Year Programs has three new student staff members and a new professional staff member. Here’s a little bit of information about the new faces you’ll be seeing around the First Year Programs office.

LeAnne Jones Wiles joined the First Year Programs staff on November 16 as a learning communities coordinator. LeAnne comes to the University of Washington from Northern Arizona University where she was the assistant director of undergraduate admissions and new student programs. LeAnne brings with her extensive experience in admissions, orientation and residential life. She earned her BA in sociology from Pacific Lutheran University and her MPA is from the University of Delaware. Everyone in First Year Programs is excited to have her join the team. Please stop by the Gateway Center in Mary Gates Hall and welcome LeAnne to the UW!

David Bahr joined the First Year Programs staff as a student coordinator this September. David is in his second year at the UW, and he plans to double-major in English and economics. One of his favorite hobbies is singing with the University Chorale.

Brad Waidelich was an orientation leader on the summer 2009, and has stepped up to be an orientation leader coordinator through the summer of 2010. Brad is from San Diego, and is entering his fourth year at the UW. He is majoring in philosophy with minors in comparative religion and music.

Samantha Croffut was also an orientation leader on the summer 2009 staff and will be joining Brad as an orientation leader coordinator through the summer of 2010. Samantha hails from the far-flung metropolis of Shoreline, WA. She, too, is entering her fourth year at the UW, and she is pursuing degrees in biology and psychology, as well as a minor in dance.
