UAA News

Help local high school students achieve the dream of getting into college.

Join the Dream Project on November 14 and 15 and help more than 300 local high school students craft competitive college application essays. Volunteer writing tutors are needed to work with students one-on-one. Students who attend the weekend often come in with nothing and leave having submitted a completed college application. Volunteers should be comfortable working with students, able to help students formulate their ideas into a strong college application essay, have solid writing skills and a general understanding of the college admissions process. A short training session will be provided for all volunteers on the unique needs of a college application essay. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least three hours and are encouraged to stay the entire day or both days. Lunch will be provided. Location: Mary Gates Hall.

The Dream Project is a student-initiated high school outreach program that partners UW students with first-generation and low-income students in Seattle area high schools to assist in the college admissions process (including SAT prep, applications, writing essays, applying for financial aid, and finding scholarships).
