Washington Park Arboretum plans summer camps for kids

The Washington Park Arboretum is offering its 230 acre outdoor classroom of woodlands, wetlands and meadows to local kids this summer in a series of summer camps. The arboretums mission is to promote environmental conservation through education and recreation, and for three weeks this July theyll be doing just that with the camps.

The camps are designed for first-to-sixth graders, ages 5 to 12. They will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with before and after care available. The themes are:

  • July 11 – 15:  Native Plants & People
  • July 18 – 22:  Little Green Thumbs
  • July 25 – 29:  Arboretum Detectives

The cost is $250 per week, but there is a 15 percent discount for UW employees. Before camp care starting at 8 a.m. is available for $25 per week and after camp care until 5 p.m. for $50 per week.
