The University of Washington Board of Regents has selected Interim President Ana Mari Cauce to be the 33rd president of the UW. A member of the UW faculty since 1986, she is the first woman to be named to the position and the first Latina. The selection will become effective upon successful completion of contract terms.
Jerry Baldasty became interim provost on March 3, 2015, and was named provost and executive vice president effective June 1, 2016. The appointment, for no more than a three-year term, is contingent on approval by the Board of Regents. The provost is responsible for overseeing the education, research and service missions in the schools and colleges and other academic units. He is responsible for resource allocation to maintain excellence throughout the University and to meet strategic goals.
