Academic Procession North – Check-in: The academic procession consists of faculty who are attending to witness the conferral of degrees. We suggest arriving at the stadium, dressed in your academic regalia, by 12:30 p.m. Plan for considerable traffic.
All faculty members will need to pass through security at one of the Faculty Marshal Entrances (see diagram). In the next few days you will be emailed an electronic ticket that you can either print out and bring with you or display on your cell phone when you arrive. Upon entering, check in with our staff and make sure they check your name on the door list. From there you will be directed to the NW tunnel on the stadium field and up the tunnel to the assembly room, where members of the academic procession will line up.
Line Up and Procession: The faculty will form in two lines – a north line and a south line. You’ll be in the north line. The procession will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the entrance of the gonfalonieres. The faculty will then be cued to enter the stadium in two files, following the gonfalonieres down the center aisle of the field. The two lines will split once the doctoral seating section is reached (see processional diagram), with the north line proceeding to the stage via the north ramps and the south line taking the south ramps. Stage marshals will meet you on stage and direct you to your seat. Upon reaching your seat, please sit down. All faculty on stage should rise when the arrival of the President’s party and Deans party is announced. Remain standing until the President’s party has been seated. The ROTC will then present the colors and the national anthem will be sung. Please stand and remove your caps for the color guard and anthem.
Recessional: During the recessional, stand at your seat until you are directed to leave by the stage marshals. The President’s and Deans’ parties will leave first, down the center aisle of the field. Then the remaining members of the stage party will be led off the front ramps to the stage and back to the area in back of the Touchdown Terrace.
