Updating personal information
If you choose to enroll with UW Alert you must update the UW Alert web site whenever your personal/cell phone information changes. This crisis contact information becomes a part of your UW personnel or student record. (You must still update Employee Self-Service for faculty and staff or Change of Address in MyUW Student Personal Services for other official contact information.)
Text messaging fees may apply
You may incur text messaging fees from your wireless service provider depending upon your service plan. You are responsible for any applicable text messaging fees for any UW Alert notifications received, in addition to up to twelve UW Alert test messages that may be sent annually.
Information privacy
Personal telephone numbers and email addresses sought by UW Alert service will be used exclusively for delivering UW Alert crisis and emergency notifications. For this purpose, UW may share this information with UW's notification service providers. The personal telephone numbers and email addresses UW Alert collects will be maintained in your personnel or student record. The UW will maintain the confidentiality of such records to the extent permitted by law. More details are available regarding student privacy concerns.
System reliability
UW Alert is offered on a best effort basis. UW offers no guarantee that it will be able to send text messages during every crisis or emergency or that such messages will be received on your wireless device. If you experience any service issues with UW Alert, you may report them to: uwalert-help@washington.edu
Do not reply to UW Alert messages
UW Alert notifications will be prefaced with [UW Alert] in the message, and the from-address will be uwalert@washington.edu - do not send replies to this address as it is used solely for outgoing messages.
