UW sophomore selected for comprehensive Institute for International Public Policy Scholarship
UW sophomore Ida McRae was recently selected for the Institute for International Public Policy (IIPP) Scholarship, a major national scholarship that provides students from underrepresented minority groups with intentionally-designed education and training experiences critical to entry and advancement in international affairs careers.
UW Honors students selected to participate in Global Honors College seminar on sustainability
Eight Asian and American universities—University of Washington, Columbia, Harvard, Korea, National University of Singapore, Peking, Waseda, and Yale—are considering the formation of a Global Honors College that will regularly assemble groups of faculty and students to study, on site and on line, issues of enduring and emerging global concern.

UW undergraduate selected for Boren Scholarship
UW senior Ryo Kato was recently selected as a National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholar, a major national scholarship that provides U.S. undergraduates up to $20,000 to study abroad for an academic year in world regions critical to U.S. interests.

UW undergraduates selected for Fulbright Scholarships
UW undergraduates Monica Barrett, Alexandra Duncan, and Cameron Rule were recently selected as Fulbright Fellows. The Fulbright Program for US Students is the largest US international exchange program offering opportunities for United States students to undertake international graduate study, advanced research and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.

New center creatively combines resources, expertise to enhance UW teaching and learning
The new UW Center for Teaching and Learning will launch in July 2009, combining for the first time, informal but related, teaching-oriented campus networks and two existing units, while pioneering an innovative new partnership with University Libraries.

The 12th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium happens May 15, 2009, from noon-5 p.m. in Mary Gates Hall. The Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium is a chance for undergraduates to present what they have learned through their research experiences to a larger audience.
