Be REAL
Resilience Lab + Center for Child & Family Well-Being
The Resilience Lab and the Center for Child and Family Well-Being are partnering to deliver Be REAL (REsilient Attitudes and Living) to thousands of students, staff and instructors across the institution. This six-week program equips participants with cognitive skills to manage stressful emotions and situations, mindfulness skills to strengthen self-awareness, and practices that promote compassion for themselves and others. Currently, the Resilience Lab offers groups for staff and instructors each quarter and teaches Be REAL as a course for credit in general studies. For questions, please contact: bereal@uw.edu.

Five for Flourishing
Resilience Lab + Center for Teaching & Learning + Office of the Provost
Five for Flourishing is a collaboration with the UW’s Office of the Provost and UW Center for Teaching and Learning to develop five easy-to-implement teaching practices to improve student well-being and social connection. The project builds on the UW’s decades-long efforts to foster student belonging and well-being and promote a culture of well-being across the UW in co-curricular environments. With an initial focus on large-enrollment courses, it aims to bring that work into the classroom. For questions, please contact: teaching@uw.edu
Five for Flourishing builds off Well-being for Life and Learning, a Resilience Lab project that aids instructors in designing learning environments that promote well-being. In 2019, the Well-being for Life and Learning guidebook was distributed to all instructors, deans, chancellors and advising staff across the UW’s three campuses. The guidebook combines research, best practices and personal testimony tailored to support the whole student.
