The swift tideways, quiet bays and lagoons of Friday Harbor give this lab a worldwide reputation as an excellent location year-round to study many types of marine algae, invertebrates and fish. The lab invites and hosts diverse groups of students and researchers for field trips, meetings, symposia and quarter-long courses. In summer internships at FHL, undergraduate students have invaluable opportunities to conduct research alongside a mentor. Each year over 100 researchers visit Friday Harbor Labs to conduct a vast array of research projects in marine biology, oceanography and fisheries.
