PepsiCo and the UW

A partnership built on shared values

The University of Washington kicks off a new University beverage partnership with PepsiCo Inc. on July 1, 2023. This collaboration is grounded in our shared values of sustainability, innovation and equity — and a shared vision for a healthier, brighter future.

PepsiCo operates through its pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) transformation initiative, which centers sustainability and inspires positive change for the planet and people. These values shape how PepsiCo shows up for the Husky community, from providing student career opportunities to helping fight food insecurity and nurturing the UW’s sustainability efforts. Together, we create possibilities for students, faculty, alumni and the community, helping our Husky family grow, enjoy life and make a positive difference in the world.

A diverse committee of representatives from across the University — including all three campuses, UW Medicine and Intercollegiate Athletics — unanimously selected PepsiCo as our beverage partner in a competitive bidding process. We look forward to a dynamic, rewarding relationship that transforms the lives of Huskies everywhere.

Enhancing the Husky Experience

With scholarships, internships and career opportunities, PepsiCo is here for Huskies at every stage of their journey. PepsiCo’s plans include a sports nutrition hub for student-athletes and ongoing support for the UW Food Pantry as part of their efforts to fight food insecurity.

Partnering for a sustainable future

PepsiCo shares the UW’s ambitious goals for a carbon-neutral future — and will support a variety of sustainability-related class projects, initiatives and activities. Throughout the supply chain, PepsiCo is minimizing water use, moving to renewable fuels and reducing single-use packaging, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

Creating spaces where everyone belongs

From connecting Huskies with employee resource groups and mentorship programs to partnering with the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity, PepsiCo is committed to funding initiatives and programs that improve diversity, equity and inclusion at the UW.

Innovation is in our DNA

PepsiCo and the UW take pride in looking for better ways to do things. That is why PepsiCo is embracing technology for an easier and less wasteful consumer experience. Additionally, the company is accelerating its reduction of added sugars and sodium through the use of science-based targets across its portfolio, and more than two-thirds of PepsiCo products will contain 100 calories or fewer per 12-ounce serving by 2025.
