These aren’t typical days. Across the University of Washington, faculty, staff, clinicians and students are stepping forward in a variety of ways to support the COVID-19 response, particularly efforts to help front-line medical personnel.

In June, the UW’s antiquated, 35-year-old payroll software system will be replaced by Workday, a modern, easy-to-use, cloud-based software system. Workday has the potential to transform the way we work at the University, making us more streamlined and employee friendly.

University of Washington working parents and caregivers balancing responsibilities at work and home will soon have more choices. To offset the waitlists parents experience at UW’s four child care centers, new full-time care options will be available in January at designated Bright Horizons and KinderCare centers. Enrollment priority will be offered by both centers and tuition discounts will offered by KinderCare. More than a thousand people participated in a Jan. 24 kettlebell workout as the kickoff event for The Whole U, an initiative to make it easier for UW faculty and staff to access the university’s health, arts, culture and other resources and to connect with people with similar interests.

The 2013 University of Washington Combined Fund Drive raised $2,181,617, pledging $63,789 more than last year.

UW faculty and staff have until Dec. 6 to contribute to this year’s UW Combined Fund Drive, part of Washington state’s workplace giving campaign.
