Every year SACNAS members and constituents from the local conference site are invited to be part of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). The LOC has the role of helping SACNAS with local outreach as well as helping organize parts of the conference such as Community Day, Native American outreach, the PowWow, and connecting us with potential conference partners and sponsors. The LOC provides SACNAS with an essential connection to the community of the host region. Through the efforts of the LOC, SACNAS is able to conduct outreach to key stakeholders and potential supporters. Through this work, SACNAS and the LOC are able to create a meaningful and lasting impact on diversifying STEM and increased opportunities for minority communities in the local area. For more information or to become a member of the LOC contact Anthony Salazar [asalazar@u.washington.edu].
In addition to the LOC, UW has a local planning committee and members of the university community are needed as volunteers.
