Documents that changed the world
A new podcast series by UW Information School Professor Joe Janes explores the compelling stories of documents that changed the lives of people and society forever, such as the 19th Amendment. Transcripts and podcasts are available at the Information School website and on iTunes.
Raising research money online
A recent article in UW Today reports that increasing numbers of UW students, faculty and staff are using “crowd funding” to pay for their research. Master’s student Rachel Aronson made a YouTube video for her campaign to interview Alaskans about climate change.

An homage to vinyl records
“The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl” at the Henry Art Gallery is the first museum exhibit to explore the culture of vinyl records and brings together 99 works by 33 artists from around the world. See this audio and visual collection combining fine art with popular culture this Thursday, August 2, when admission is free, or on other “first Thursdays” until October 7.
