Community College Research Initiatives

Transfer Duplicate

Transfer is one of the most important but understudied phenomenon in U.S. higher education. Transfer is growing in response to rising tuition costs and other factors, and this trend has direct implications for underserved students such as low-income and first-generation students as well as students of color who enroll in community colleges and transfer to a receiving institution to obtain a baccalaureate degree. Using an equity lens to guide their work, the CCRI research group is conducting a series of studies funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to understand transfer policies and practices relative to student experiences, perceptions, and outcomes. Two major research initiatives that pertain to the CCRI group’s transfer research are Transfer Partnerships and Credit When It’s Due (CWID).
