Health and Safety
COVID-19
Autumn quarter classes, experiences and services will again be offered largely in person as we continue to stay vigilant to the continued presence of COVID-19. The University recommends wearing a high-quality mask inside UW facilities where they aren’t otherwise required. High-quality masks are available at no cost at locations on each campus. To learn more about how the UW is working to keep people safe and healthy, visit the UW coronavirus page.
We encourage all attendees to take a COVID-19 test prior to the event. Testing within 72 hours is recommended if using a PCR test, testing day of the event is recommended if using a rapid antigen test. Testing 3 to 5 days after attending an event is also encouraged.
Security
As when traveling to any large city, remaining aware of your surroundings and using common sense is a good idea. We recommend using a ride hailing service or driving yourself to and from any events that end after dark. There is a convenient loading zone to the north of the Hans Rosling Center on Grant Lane. If you do choose to walk in the areas surrounding the University, we recommend doing so in groups. For more information about safety, please visit the campus safety and emergency resources page.
For information about recent safety issues in the U District and the UW’s response, please see this statement from the Vice President for Campus Community Safety.
