Houseplants 101

Learn the do’s and don’ts of indoor plants in this workshop that brings students and alumni together. Are you a first-time plant owner? Are you looking to expand your knowledge of your existing collection? Instructor Tassy de Give discusses how to choose the right plant for your indoor environment. Gain know-how and guidance for improving the life of your plants, including environmental factors, plant identification, general care techniques and troubleshooting potential plant problems.

The class will include an instructional talk, a hands-on plant potting activity and ample time for Q&A. Be sure to bring any plant questions or pictures of plants you want identified. Attendees will leave with a new succulent or foliage plant to care for!

Meet the Instructor

Tassy de Give

Plant Director, Glasswing Greenhouse
Tassy de Give is a plant enthusiast and instructor who has worked in the horticulture field for the past 15 years. In 2007 she co-founded Sprout Home, a home and garden shop and design studio in Brooklyn, NY. She co-authored “Rooted in Design,” her first book, in 2015. Tassy has been a featured guest/writer for ABC’s “The Chew,” “Martha Stewart Living Radio” and Elle Magazine. She is currently the Plant Director for Glasswing Greenhouse in Seattle, WA and a regular instructor for UW Botanic Gardens.
