Admissions Workshop Weekend preview

Haley Strandberg, 2015 Admissions Workshop Weekend event lead

Join us at Admissions Workshop Weekend

November 14–15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mary Gates Hall

On November 14 and 15, nearly 1,000 low-income and first-generation high school students from the Puget Sound region will come to the UW campus for Admissions Workshop Weekend (AWW). College admissions counselors, writing tutors and mentors will assist students with all parts of the application process.

Our goal: each student will apply to at least three colleges by the end of the weekend.

More than 750 students attended last year’s AWW, with 58% of the students making significant progress on their personal statements and 62% of the students reporting the strong belief that the event was a good use of their time.

Emily Murphy and I (together, we are the event leads), Jessica Hunnicutt Batten (the assistant director of program operations) and the AWW committee leads are hard at work to make sure the event goes smoothly and is even better than last year. We hope to make year’s event even better!

If you would like to volunteer at AWW, please fill out the volunteer sign-up form.

High school students from non-partner schools are also welcome to participate at AWW. If you would like to extend the invitation to students from non-partner schools, please have the student fill out this registration form for non-partner school attendees.

We are looking forward to hosting our mentees on campus and we hope to see you there!

Hadley Strandberg is a junior majoring in business administration with a focus in finance and operations and supply chain management. This is her third quarter mentoring with the Dream Project at Ingraham High School.
