Nearly everyone at the University of Washington contributes to our digital community, and with the Power of the Pack Digital Accessibility Initiative, we are collectively building new awareness and skills to make sure our digital content is accessible to all users, including students, staff, faculty, and visitors with disabilities.
If you create documents and course content in Word, PowerPoint, or PDF; produce videos; design or contribute content to websites; or choose which technology tools to buy, you play a role in creating our online presence and share in the responsibility to make it accessible. We encourage you to get involved in the University of Washington’s accessibility community. Together, we can break down barriers and build a university that is truly accessible and welcoming to everyone. Here are a few ways to get connected.
Digital Accessibility Liaisons
Digital Accessibility Liaisons are staff and faculty who represent their work unit, large or small, in a tri-campus movement to build digital accessibility awareness, learn new skills, and promote the procurement and use of tools, and development of digital content that is accessible to everyone, particularly to students, faculty, and staff with disabilities.
You don’t have to be an accessibility expert to join the growing network of Liaisons! Everyone is welcome to join us! The Digital Accessibility Liaisons communicate via a Teams channel and meet several times a year for training sessions. For more information on becoming a Liaison, see the Digital Accessibility Liaisons page.
Events
The University of Washington offers a wide variety of events related to digital accessibility, including ongoing events such as a Monthly Web Accessibility & Usability Meetup, Course Content Lunch & Learns; and a variety of trainings, workshops, and special events throughout the year.
