Carpe Diem String Quartet

Carpe Diem String Quartet performs at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 as part of the World Series at Meany Hall. The quartet-in-residence at Ohio Wesleyan University, the group is known as one of the most versatile ensembles of its generation and is committed to bringing new audiences to chamber music. Carpe Diem writes, arranges and performs music of all styles, and works with artists of many different genres. The quartet recently performed with American songwriter/guitarist Willy Porter, and the CD of their live concert will be available in fall of 2010. Also this year, Carpe Diem will be collaborating with Latin Grammy winner Raul Juarena. This is their first appearance in the UW World Series.
On the program for this concert are String Quartet No. 7 in E-flat Major, by Sergei Taneyev; String Quartet No. 2, by Jonathan Leshnoff; Dancing on My Grave, by Bruce Wolosoff; Otono Porteno, by Astor Piazzolla; Fiddle Suite Montana, by Korine Fujiwara; and Czardas, by Vittorio Monti.
