Slide show: Planning & budgeting is on the move

On Feb. 27 the UW’s Planning and Budgeting staff members — a total of 30 people — became the first occupants of the UW Tower, formerly the Safeco Building. Planning and Budgeting had been on the first floor of Gerberding, and moved to free up that central campus space for more student-oriented functions.

“Planning for the UW Tower was being managed out of our office,” said Office Administrator Kerry Kuenzi, “so we thought it was only fitting that we be the first to go, to be the guinea pigs.”

Planning and Budgeting is on the 12th floor of the tower, with everyone — including the vice provost for planning and budgeting — in open cubicles. They’re still working out many processes, such as how to greet visitors, and staffers are getting to know the building, Kuenzi said.

Our photographer, Kathy Sauber, tagged along when the office made the move, and all of the photos are hers.
