The Office of External Affairs, headed by Vice President Randy Hodgins, brings together units responsible for influencing public policy and opinion and strengthening the university's reputation and the perceptions people hold of it.

Featured Series

UWTV provides video production, satellite downlinking, streaming media and traditional cable and satellite television distribution services for the UW community. UWTV staff create collaborative applications in support of eScience activities, pioneer new avenues of media distribution on the Web and offer consulting engineering to design advanced spatial communication systems. They develop and integrate technology and techniques for distributing high-quality video over the Internet in support of the iHDTV™ project.

UWTV includes:

  • UWTV: Offering original, non-commercial educational programs in health and medicine, science, technology and social issues. Presented by UW colleges and departments to showcase the university’s outstanding research, programs, faculty and visiting speakers. Available to cable television viewers across Washington state (channel 27 in Seattle and King County), to satellite television subscribers nationwide and as streaming video and video on demand around the world at www.uwtv.org.
