Mission

The mission of the University of Washington Black Faculty and Staff Association is to foster a greater sense of community and mutual support among the Black faculty and staff of the University through mentoring and networking in an effort to provide an organized support system that will enhance the cultural diversity within the University.

The purpose of the association is to:

  • Provide social gatherings for Black faculty & staff on and off-campus to create an enlightened environment where issues of inequity and injustice can be effectively identified, directly challenged, and intelligently discussed.
  • Through the listserv we share opportunities that promote the recruitment and retention, promotion and tenure, and professional development and career advancement of Black faculty and staff at the University.

  • Black in Seattle Lunch & Learn
  • Spring Unity Luncheon

The Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity (OMA&D) and UW Human Resources (UWHR) partner to support employee affinity groups at the University of Washington. Affinity groups are open to all UW employees.
