Academic Procession North Instructions

Academic Procession – North Lineup Area The academic procession consists of faculty who are present to witness the conferring of degrees. As part of the academic procession, you will lead the graduates into Husky Stadium.

Security Check-In: (see diagram) All faculty members will need to pass through security at one of the Faculty/Disabled Student entrances. Upon entering, check in with our staff and make sure they check your name on the door list.

Lining Up: Please arrive dressed in your academic attire at 12:30 p.m. to form the procession. Faculty on the north will line up in two lines near the center of the field, on the purple side (see diagram).  Look for the “Faculty” banner.

Procession: The Procession will begin at 1:30 p.m. If you arrive late you will need to fall in at the back of the faculty line as we cannot break the order of the procession once it has started. Faculty marshals will lead the procession to the stage. Stage marshals will direct you to your seat. Upon reaching your seat, please sit down. All faculty on stage should rise when the arrival of the President’s party and Deans’ party is announced. Remain standing until the President’s party has been seated. The ROTC will then present the colors and the national anthem will be sung. Please stand and remove your caps for the color guard and anthem.

Recessional: During the recessional, stand at your seat until you are directed to leave by the stage marshals. The President’s and Deans’ parties will leave first, down the center aisle of the field. Then the Grand Marshals will lead the remaining faculty off the stage back to the general area where you lined up.
