There are several ways to make a donation to the University of Washington and some methods may offer tax benefits to residents of Japan. However you choose to give, your partnership makes a lasting difference.
Make a Donation Now
Donations to a wide range of funds can be made through the University of Washington’s giving site or by wire transfer. These options allow you to give immediately and determine where you want to designate your funds. While these donations are not tax deductible in Japan, they may be deductible for those who file US taxes.
Make a Tax-Deductible Donation in Japan Through CBCC
The University of Washington is pleased to partner with the Council for Better Corporate Citizenship (CBCC) in Japan to enable tax-deductible giving for donors based in Japan. Individuals and organizations may make donations in Japanese yen and receive a charitable tax receipt issued by CBCC in accordance with Japanese law.
All donations are directed to the University of Washington Global Opportunities Fund. In consultation with a UW international fundraiser, you may indicate the school, college, program, initiative or student support area you wish to benefit. After the UW receives your donation, it is distributed from the Global Opportunities Fund in alignment with your designation.
Through this partnership, donors in Japan can support the UW while receiving appropriate tax documentation from CBCC.

- Connect with a UW international fundraiser to discuss your philanthropic interests.
- Complete the CBCC Donation Form for the University of Washington Global Opportunities Fund.
- Submit the form directly to CBCC.
- Transfer your donation in Japanese yen to CBCC’s designated account.
