The University of Washington’s sustainability leadership was recognized  at the fifth annual Green Washington Awards on October 29th, where the UW received the Silver Award in the Academia category – one of 12 categories honoring the 22 top sustainability-minded organizations. The UW consistently ranks among the top environmentally-friendly schools in the United States.

Representatives of the National League of Cities will take time from their national conference in downtown Seattle today to learn about the innovative University District Livability Partnership, a 4-Year strategic initiative between the community, the University, and the City of Seattle to work toward the betterment of the U District neighborhood, both now and in the decades ahead.

Bill Frisell, one of modern jazz’s premier guitarists,has joined the Jazz Studies Program in the School of Music as an affiliate professor and will interact with jazz students and faculty when he’s home in Seattle.

Presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Veteran Award and the Husky Marching Band will be part of the celebrations at the annual Medal of Honor memorial event at the end of Memorial Way on Monday, Nov. 11, followed by cake and coffee in Kane Hall.
