Boys in the Boat VIP meet-and-greet Sunday, March 8

479749-250Attention Boys in the Boat fans: Tickets are on sale now for a meet and greet, presentation and book signing this weekend at the Everett PUD. The event is a behind the scenes look at the New York Times Bestseller, featuring an intimate gathering with Daniel James Brown, Judy Rantz Willman, and Joe Rantz’s granddaughter Jennifer, who will share her grandfather’s personal memorabilia and scrapbook of letters, articles and rowing related treasures.

The event will conclude with a book signing and one-of-a-kind book-related exhibit. All of the items from the VIP gathering will be on display to the general audience along with “behind the scenes” items about the book. Dessert and refreshments will be served.

Coming to a neighborhood near you: 13th Annual Food Bank Benefit Dinner March 19

Thursday, March 19th is a great opportunity to benefit the U District Food Bank by dining out at one of the following Seattle restaurants: Eastlake Bar & Grill, Greenlake Bar & Grill, or Lake Forest Park Bar & Grill. Via UW Today: Architect and design plans revealed for former Spokane visitors center

Architectural renderings were released this week for the redesign of the former Spokane Visitors Center, soon to be the UW Spokane Center. Located in the heart of Spokane’s University District, the UW Spokane Center will serve as a hub for Spokane-area alumni, students, prospective students, parents and supporters with space for meetings and special events. The UW has retained Spokane architectural firm Blue Room Architecture & Design, PS to lead the remodel of the space, which is expected to open in May 2015. Read the full story here.
