The UW is the first university in the country to use high-tech kiosks for sorting waste. The solar-powered system sends wireless text messages to reduce servicing, provides data on collection information, and educates the public about recycling.

Even more events at Husky Fest!
Two popular annual events will coincide with Husky Fest this year.
On Friday, the annual campus observation of Earth Day will share the spotlight in Red Square with music, breakdancing, exhibits, speakers (including President Young) and the announcement of this year’s recipients of the Husky Green Award.
On Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, the College of Engineering will open its doors for the 2012 Engineering Discovery Days. (Tips for a Successful Visit will help you and your student enjoy the hands-on fun and learning even more!)

The public is invited to join in the discussion on Thursday, April 19, when representatives of Seattle University, the Seattle Community Colleges and the University of Washington will gather in Seattle City Council Chambers to share what is being done to protect the local environment and conserve precious resources on their campuses.

Military jurisdiction over civilians hearing at UW Law School
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces will hear oral argument about the lawfulness of trying a civilian in a court-martial at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in Room 133 of William H. Gates Hall at the Law School. To attend, please RSVP Online by Monday, April 2.
