Volunteer

The Pantry relies on volunteers who are committed to ensuring every community member has access to healthy and wholesome food. We have opportunities to work with customers, stock shelves, and support campus food drives.

To join the Pantry volunteer team, email uwpantry@uw.edu.

To volunteer as a group (RSOs, Greek chapters, etc.), email uwpantry@uw.edu.

All volunteers are required to complete a short training course. Volunteer opportunities are filled on a rolling basis.

Host a food drive

The Pantry relies on food drives from UW departments, student groups, individuals, and off-campus partners. To arrange a food drive, please fill out the Food Drive Interest Form or email us directly at givefood@uw.edu.  If you would like to drop off an individual donation of in-kind goods you can do so during any of our open hours. For information regarding marketing your food drive, check out our marketing toolkit.

Join the Gleaning Team

two women wearing raincoats and holding small pumpkins at a farmThe UW Pantry Gleaning Team recaptures fresh produce and ready-to-eat items from campus dining locations and the UW Farm to be redistributed to Pantry shoppers. The work of this group of volunteers helps to eliminate food waste by repurposing food within the UW’s food system. From February to July 2019 the Gleaning Team recaptured over 1,200 pounds of food that was made available at the UW Food Pantry. Email uwpantry@uw.edu to get involved.

Donate

We accept monetary and in-kind donations. We appreciate your support!

To make a monetary contribution, you can visit the giving page and make a gift to the Husky Hunger Relief Fund. The Husky Hunger Relief Fund helps stock and sustain the Campus Food Pantry, and supports other food security initiatives on campus. A $25 donation provides 4-5 days’ worth of food for one UW community member.

To donate food or personal hygiene items, you can drop off items at Poplar Hall Room 210 during our regular shopping hours.
