Welcome Ally, our new public relations manager

This fall, we said a sad goodbye to Olivia Smith, our longtime public relations manager, and welcomed new public relations manager Allyson Ahern. The public relations manager plays an important role in Dream Project’s outreach strategy, publicizing Dream Project to high schools and working as liaison for high school newspapers and nearby newspaper editors. We are thrilled to have Ally on our team! Read a message from Ally below.

Meet Ally Ahern

Hello and Happy January! I’m Allyson Ahern (aka Ally), and I am currently transitioning into the public relations role. I started with Dream Project as a mentor at Federal Way High School last fall, and after the first visit, I knew it was a program I wanted to be a part of until I graduated. The student leaders and staff are some of the most passionate people I’ve ever met, and the mentees I worked with were equally inspiring.

After mentoring for two quarters, I decided to get more involved, which leads me to where I am today! Right now, I am in my last quarter as a High School Lead at Auburn High School and my fifth quarter in Dream Project overall. I’m double majoring in Communications and Sociology so I think this role will be a perfect next step in my Dream Project journey.

Outside of Dream Project, I work in the Athletic Communications Department and love being involved in the UW sports world. I’m excited to start a new year and can’t wait to see the amazing things mentors, staff and students will accomplish together!
