Summer Husky Socials
Perfect summer evenings — Husky style
Get together with your fellow Dawgs to enjoy cold drinks and summer vibes! The UW Alumni Association is partnering with neighborhood breweries in Ravenna and Capitol Hill for two nights of fun. Bring your friends and family to enjoy local brews, food truck fare, purple and gold swag and great company during the peak of Seattle’s sunshine. The first drink is on us, with additional food and drink available for purchase.
UWAA Members: $5 | General Public: $10
Know Before You Go:
- You must register for each event separately.
- Your Husky Social registration includes one drink ticket. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase. ID required for age verification to order/consume alcoholic beverages.
- Both venues are ADA accessible, as well as dog and family-friendly. Children age 12 and younger attend for FREE and do not require registration.
- Dress is casual and all are welcome. Husky gear encouraged!

The UW Alumni Association and the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center gather in community with BIPOC Husky alumni and extend a special welcome to all alumni and friends at this casual summer get-together.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and our special guest, ECC Director Magdalena Fonseca, ’98, ’11, will say a few words at 5:30.

Get to know Magdalena Fonseca
Magdalena Fonseca, ’98, ’11, has served as the Director for the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center for the past seven years. She has spent twenty-six years in total at the University of Washington! In 2014 she co-founded the Leadership Without Borders Center, the first center dedicated to serving undocumented students in institutions of higher education in the Pacific Northwest. In 2016 she was awarded the UW Distinguished Staff Award for her efforts in supporting and advocating for undocumented students on campus.
The Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center has a wealth of resources and opportunities available to students including student advising and organizational development. This inclusive and affirming space serves and empowers historically marginalized and underrepresented students by providing educational and cultural opportunities for holistic development.

Get to know Ravenna Brewing
Originally from Los Angeles, Tommy Ransom, ’05, moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. He pursued a career in ethical hacking, working for Google and Expedia. In 2016, Tommy, along with his wife and brother-in-law, founded Ravenna Brewing Co. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, and attending UW sporting events, from football to golf.

Get to know Brennon Ham
Brennon Ham (Brennon/they/any) is a dedicated advocate and leader, currently serving as the Director of the Q Center at the University of Washington. Their experience as a queer, bigender, mixed-Latinx, formerly homeless, survivor of violence informs their mission to create spaces of belonging for students. Brennon’s recent work spans transforming policy and practice in K-12 greater Seattle school districts, coaching swimming, and driving institutional change at the University of Washington to foster affirming environments for all students. They love their work and serving queer and trans students, staff and faculty at the UW.
The Q Center envisions a Washington community where justice, equality, compassion, and respect for all people prevail. They facilitate and enhance a brave, affirming, liberatory and celebratory environment for students, faculty, staff and alumni of all sexual and gender orientations, identities, and expressions.

Get to know Stoup Brewing
Stoup is a lifelong dream realized by three friends who love all things food and drink. Husband-and-wife team Brad Benson and Lara Zahaba, together with Robyn Schumacher, opened their first location in Ballard in 2013. Their Capitol Hill location opened in 2023.
“We are family friendly (and friendly dog welcoming) brewery and beer hall at the corner of Broadway & Union. We are very excited to be a part of the diverse and vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood,” they announced when opening their newest location.
