Meet the guest speakers
Ed Taylor, ’94, is vice provost and dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs at the University of Washington. He oversees educational opportunities that advance and deepen the undergraduate experience. He is also a professor in the UW’s College of Education, which he joined in 1995. His research and teaching center on comparative education in the U.S. and South Africa; moral dimensions of education and integrative education; and leadership in education and social justice. Paul Rucker, ’95, ’02, is the executive director of the UW Alumni Association, a 130-year non-profit organization committed to advancing higher education in the State of Washington and supporting the UW. Paul is a member of the UW President’s Cabinet and the Executive Team for University Advancement, which leads all institutional engagement, marketing and communications, and philanthropic programs and services. 2024 Lee Gibbon Alumni Scholarship
About the Lee Gibbon Alumni Scholarship
Named after devoted Husky and long time Spokane volunteer Lee Gibbon, ’77, this scholarship is annually awarded to two Spokane area students.
Recipients will be announced at the event.
Meet the scholarship presenters
Stephanie Aden, ’84, graduated from the UW with a Bachelors in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Finance. She was born and raised in Spokane, graduating from Ferris High School in 1980. Stephanie spent 18 years in Seattle working in the world of High Tech in sales, marketing & business development with NCR, Texas Instruments and a telephony startup. Relocating back to Spokane, she worked for Software Spectrum as a Microsoft Business Development Manager. The last 12 years of her career were in the Architecture/Engineering field as Marketing Coordinator/Business Development and as an Executive Director for the American Institute of Architects, Spokane. Stephanie is now retired, traveling and enjoying grandkids.
Jim Hinz, ’75, graduated from the UW with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Jim was born and raised in Spokake, graduating from John R. Rogers High School in 1971. Over a 25 year career, he worked at Navistar International Corp.’s world headquarters office in Chicago, IL for over 13 years, managing product development and marketing programs. Jim has been married to his wife Tracy for 41 years. Their daughter, Jamie, graduated from the UW with a degree in Communications in 2007. Their son-in-law, Chris, also graduated from the UW in 2007 with a degree from the Foster School of Business. Their son, James, earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Eastern Washington University. Jim and Tracy are very proud of the education legacy they have with their family. As long-time Husky Football season ticket holders, they travel to Seattle for home games as well as to select away games, including this past year’s National Championship game in Houston.

About the UW Faculty Field Tour
The UW Faculty Field Tour is a five-day immersive tour of the state of Washington, designed for faculty members who are new to the state and to the University. Designed as a way to get to know our diverse and fascinating state, past participants note that they not only enjoyed the beautiful landscapes beyond the Puget Sound region, but also gained important context about where students are coming from and how UW has impacts across the state.
