About David and Marcie Stone
About David and Marcie Stone
David Stone, ’68, graduated in 1968 and was awarded a bachelor’s degree from the Business School and a commission in the U.S. Army. He affiliated with Sigma Alpha Mu and was a member of Sundodgers. He served on active duty in the Army for twenty years and as a telecommunications and information systems consultant until 2008, when he moved back to Seattle.
Since returning, he has used his experience to assist diverse UW activities. These include the UW Libraries; the Meany Center for the Performing Arts, the UWAA and the UWAA Legislative Advocacy Committee, the Dream Project, the Stroum Jewish Studies Center and the Kinnear Husky Battalion Foundation Board. He has actively championed and promoted student veteran programs and has worked to develop UWAA offerings for alumni veterans. He participated in the Class of 1968 50-Year Reunion Committee
Marcie Stone, ’69, ’76, is a Seattle native and a “double Dawg,” with an undergraduate degree in English, a certificate in education and a master’s in library science. She and David left Seattle in 1969 and returned in 2008, after ten years of travelling with the US Army, followed by nearly 30 years in the Washington, D.C. area where David completed his Army career and Marcie was a career Department of Defense employee as a librarian, web development manager, and information services executive.
Upon returning to Seattle, the Stones wanted to be involved with the UW, and they certainly have been! Marcie has been on the Information School’s Master of Library and Information Science Advisory Board for many years, and was co-chair of the iCampaign. Additionally, Marcie is a former member of the UWAA Board of Trustees where she served as assistant secretary and is a long-time member of the UWAA’s Legislative Advocacy Committee (LAC), of which she is a past-co-chair. She actively supports the UW and Washington higher education in her capacity as a member of the LAC and regularly communicates with her State Legislative delegation on the UW’s behalf. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Meany Center for the Performing Arts, where she is chairing the New Audience Task Force. She participated in the Class of 1969 50-Year Reunion Committee.
Marcie and David are members of the Suzzallo Society and of the President’s Club, and wear purple whenever it’s appropriate!

Supporting the Next Generation
UW 50th Reunion Student Assistance Fund
Want to make a difference to future classes of Huskies? Consider joining this alumni effort to provide financial support to deserving UW students. You’ll be helping to build on a multi-class legacy of alumni helping students.
“When the Class of 1968 celebrated our 50th reunion, we all agreed how valuable our UW educations were in our lives. We established the 50th Reunion Student Assistance Fund as a continuing class gift to help potential students with limited financial resources share the Husky Experience. I encourage every Golden Grad to continue your Husky legacy by contributing to this fund.” — Dave Stone, ’68
Build Your Legacy
Join other Husky supporters by including an estate gift to the University of Washington to benefit students, programs and faculty whose passion for achievement never rests.
Making a gift to the University of Washington in your will or trust is easy and you can alter your plans at any time during your lifetime. It’s a great way to make a meaningful gift to the University and support the causes you care about most.
“We believe in creating educational opportunities, especially for those who might otherwise not be able to attend college. Leaving a legacy is a strong message that we can share about what we value and care about.” — Michael, ’71, and Susan, ’70, Peskura

Toast the Huskies with this signature Reunion cocktail from James Beard Award-winning chef and UW alumna Renee Erickson ’95. This summery treat is featured in Erickson’s new book, “Getaway: Food & Drink to Transport You.”
4 ounces gin
1 cup strawberries (as ripe and as local as you can get them)
tonic water
black pepper
strawberries to garnish
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the strawberries with the gin. Strain into an empty glass. Fill two highball glasses with ice and strain the strawberry gin a second time, dividing it between the two glasses. Top each with tonic and garnish with a few strawberries, both in the drink and on the side. Grind two or three twists of black pepper over the top of each drink.
A non alcohol version of this could be done by muddling the strawberries with some sparkling water, and then topping the puree off with tonic and black pepper.
