Husky Parents 101 Series

A guide to student career development

Sat. March 7, 2015      9:30 a.m.–12 p.m.

Walker-Ames Room, Kane Hall 225, UW Seattle Campus

This event is at capacity. If you have any questions, please contact UW Parent and Family Programs at uwparent@uw.edu.

We’ve surveyed Husky parents and families on their interests concerning their student’s time at the UW. The perennial hot topic? Careers.

Join Parent & Family Programs on Saturday, March 7 at Husky Parents 101: A Guide to Student Career Development for a morning of learning, networking and discussion on what your student can be doing to develop their career path while at the UW.

At our Husky Parents 101, you will hear from University of Washington experts on how to navigate various on-campus career resources available to students, as well as learn about current career-related research and gain insight into job preparation strategies. Participants will also have the opportunity to chat one-on-one with faculty and staff and network with other Husky parents in a roundtable format. While our hope is that you’ll share what you learn with your student afterward, we encourage you to attend this event on your own.

This year’s speakers will be:

  • Susan Terry, Director of the Career Center, Student Life
  • Ben Wiggins, Faculty Coordinator for Instruction and Lecturer, Biology
  • Mike Shapiro, Divisional Dean for the Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Grant Kollet, Assistant Vice President, Alumni and Constituent Relations

Closing remarks will be given by Denzil Suite, Vice President of Student Life.
