Presenting the 2017 Anne Gould Hauberg Libraries Artist Images Series

KUOW arts and culture reporter Marcie Sillman guides a freewheeling, wide-ranging discussion with veteran art critic and eyewitness curator, Matthew Kangas. Kangas will share his observations and experiences of the last four decades and the present moment.

Reception with the artist to follow in the Walker Ames Room. The event and reception are free, but advance registration is required.

MatthewKangas_210MATTHEW KANGAS has established himself nationally and internationally as an independent art critic, educator and curator. With over 2,000 publications since 1978, Kangas has written 20 books and contributed to numerous catalogues and anthologies. A Seattle native and fourth-generation Washington State resident, he showcased the work of Northwest artists, writing for the Seattle Times as a freelance correspondent for 12 years and Seattle Weekly for eight. Today he is a corresponding editor for Art in America, contributing editor to Sculpture, and also writes a column and reviews for Visual Art Source Weekly Newsletter online.
