Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a 10K or virtual run? Husky Pups Run?
The 2021 Alaska Airlines Dawg Dash special back-to-campus edition will not feature a 10k course, Husky Pups Run or virtual race. We plan to reintroduce these favorites in 2022.
What are the current COVID-19 policies?
[UPDATED Sept. 24, 2021] The safety of our participants, volunteers and community members is of utmost concern. Following guidance from the UW and Public Health – Seattle & King County, Alaska Airlines Dawg Dash is requiring all participants to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the event. You will be asked to show this proof at packet pick-up. Face coverings will be required for all attendees, including while running. Likewise, our staff and volunteers will be vaccinated and masked.
While we appreciate the importance of having a strong pack to cheer you on, this year the UWAA respectfully asks Dashers to leave their cheer squads at home. Because onlookers don’t have the same verification process as registrants, we ask that you refrain from inviting non-registered family and friends to join you at this event. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or exposure in the days leading up to the event should participate virtually.
Fully Vaccinated Registrants
Registrants vaccinated against COVID-19 by a two-dose CDC- or WHO-authorized mRNA vaccine (such as Moderna and Pfizer), or a single dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson), are considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after the final dose of vaccine (the second dose for a two-dose regimen, or the single dose for a single-dose regimen). Documentation of vaccination status must be shown at packet pick-up.
The following are acceptable as proof of full vaccination:
- CDC COVID-19 vaccine record card or photo of vaccine card.
- Printed certificate or QR code (available at the end of September) from MyIRMobile.com.
- Other official immunization record from within or outside the U.S., including from your health care provider. A photo or photocopy of this card is also acceptable.
- Per King County’s mandate, no ID is needed with your vaccination card/negative test.
Self-reported vaccination records that are not verified by a health care provider cannot be accepted.
Unvaccinated Registrants
Registrants unable to be vaccinated, including children under 12 and people with a medical or religious exemption, will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours prior to the event. Test may be taken no earlier than 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021. Please note: given the 72-hour window, registrants who need to show a negative test result must come to packet pick-up on Oct. 8, 9 or day of event only.
The following are acceptable as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result:
- Printed document (from the test provider or laboratory) OR
- An email or text message displayed on a phone or electronic device from the test provider or laboratory.
- The information provided must include name of person tested, type of test performed, and date of negative test result (date of negative PCR test result must be within prior 72 hours).
Antigen tests cannot be accepted. Self-reported negative test results that are not from a test provider, a laboratory, or a health care provider cannot be accepted.
Find a testing location near you.
How do I get my race materials?
Avoid the lines on race day. Pick up your packet early at University Book Store on the Ave, and be sure to bring proof of your COVID-19 vaccination or negative PCR test. Registrants are allowed to pick up packets for other registered runners, but they will need to provide the required documentation.
While you’re here, enter a drawing for a free pair of Brooks Running shoes! You might be one of six lucky Dashers to get new kicks.
All packets include a coupon for 10% off purchases at University Book Store. Combine with a UWAA Pack Rewards membership and save 20%! Good through Oct. 10, 2021.
Packets will be available at the following dates and times:
- Thursday, Oct. 7 | 2–6 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 8 | 2–6 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 9 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
You can also pick up your packet at the race, beginning at 7:30 AM. Please arrive at least 45 minutes early to make sure you have time to go through the vaccination verification process and receive your race materials.
What’s the best way to get to campus? Is parking available?
BE ADVISED: The Montlake Bridge WILL be closed for repairs on Oct. 10. Learn more here.
To avoid traffic and parking difficulties, we recommend taking public transit to campus if possible. It’s a great opportunity to see the new University District station, or jump off at the stadium and enjoy a pre-Dash stroll up Rainier Vista. Light rail service is available from 6 a.m. to midnight on Sundays. Plan your trip.
Free parking is available in the Central Plaza Garage under Red Square (enter from 15th Ave. NE) and other lots across campus.
