Join us at the 17th annual Los Angeles and Orange County Salmon BBQ, co-hosted by your Los Angeles and Orange County alumni chapter. UW alumni, friends, students and parents are invited to enjoy an afternoon of delicious food and summer fun on the rooftop at Jonathan Club in Los Angeles. This year’s gathering will also be an opportunity to welcome incoming UW students from Southern California to the Husky community!
We hope you’ll take part in this not-to-miss Husky tradition, where you can meet other Huskies and hear from special guest Bob Ernst, ’79, UW Crew Coach for 41 years. A California native, Coach Ernst has guided teams to eight National Championships, one Olympic gold medal and numerous wins both domestically and abroad.
This event will include a raffle to raise money for the Los Angeles & Orange County Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund, which benefits UW students from Southern California. If you’d like to participate, please bring cash!

Now in his 41st year at Washington, long-time crew coach Bob Ernst, ’79, has served as the face of the Husky crew program for decades. He has guided teams to eight National Championships, one Olympic gold medal and numerous wins both domestically and abroad.
A California native and UW alumnus, Ernst currently serves as the Husky Women’s Crew head coach. He graduated from University of California, Irvine, in 1967 and later earned a master’s degree in sports administration from the UW. Ernst was inducted into UC Irvine’s athletic hall of fame in 1984 and the National Rowing Hall of Fame in 1994.
