In a fundraising appearance cosponsored by InHealth Sports and Performance Care, Farrar will answer questions from the audience on everything from getting his start at 13 in Wenatchee to his experiences in the greatest bicycle race of all.

Farrar will be joined by Dan Tripps, chair of Seattle Universitys Department of Sport Studies and an authority on exercise physiology and sports psychology, who will speak on “The Psychology of Winning.”

Tripps is the author of In Search of Greatness: Attributes of Achievement and Lessons for Life, and The Heart of Success: Conversations With Notable Achievers. Hes also executive director of the American Institute of Sport and its affiliated performance laboratory and has served as a consultant to education, businesses and government.

“The opportunity to have a world-class athlete and a national expert in sports psychology in the same room like this is unreal,” said Genevieve Gebhart, president of the Husky Cycling Club. “This is inspiring not only to our racing team, but also to our members who ride for recreation or transportation and to the UW community in general.

She added that you don’t need to be focused on competitive riding to benefit from hearing about Farrar’s professional cycling and Tripps’s knowledge of the right mindset. “This is something we’ll all be able to relate to and learn from.”

Northcut Landing is at 5001 25th Ave. NE. Free underground parking will be provided — as well as valet parking for your bike. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 to $10, and all proceeds will go to the Husky Cycling Club.

The Husky Cycling Club is a nonprofit, non-NCAA cycling club with more than 100 members dedicated to serving the students, faculty and staff of the UW. In addition to recreational riding, Husky Cycling also fields road, track, cyclocross and mountain bike teams with regional and national championship titles.
