TVW and UWTV forge a closer partnership

TVW, Washington’s public affairs network, and UWTV, the television station for the UW, have announced that UWTV, using its satellite uplink facilities on the Seattle campus, will also send TVW’s signal out to cable systems in all areas of the state.

TVW President Greg Lane said this latest agreement is just the first of what he expects will be many more opportunities for the two channels to collaborate. “Transmission isn’t the only area where both organizations can achieve efficiencies through partnership. We’re also exploring the benefits of sharing programming, as well as production costs. The more we work together, the more viewers of both stations will benefit.”

UW vice president for external affairs Randy Hodgins said he is very gratified that the two state-supported organizations are collaborating for the benefit of state residents. “This will provide a great service to the citizens of our state as we work together to bring them information about our state government and the people and ideas at the University of Washington.”
