HIV research open house set for June 8 at Harborview

The UW AIDS Clinical Trials Unit will be hosting an HIV Research Open House on Tuesday, June 8 from noon to 3 p.m. The event will occur at the unit, located in Harborview Medical Center, second floor of the West Clinic.

The UW ACTU offers research studies that involve all people with HIV. These studies are designed to answer specific questions about the safety and effectiveness of treatments for HIV/AIDS and related conditions.

New HIV medicines go through many tests to see if they are safe and to find out how well they work. Through our research studies, we can find out which combination of medicines slows the progression of the HIV virus, or if the medicine can prevent or treat the complications and infections associated with HIV.

Find out about our new program that offers direct support to minority and female study participants, and how we have changed the standard of care for all people with HIV.

Sneak a peek at the new studies we’re hoping will improve HIV treatment, as well as check out the new rapid HIV tests that may be implemented in the near future.

A lunch buffet will be provided.
