Evergreen Point Floating Bridge replacement is subject of two meetings

The Washington State Department of Transportation is holding two sessions on campus in February to gather comments and provide information on its Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the SR520 project, which includes replacing the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge.

The meetings will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the first floor lobby of the HUB, and from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Rotunda Foyer of the I Wing in the Health Sciences Building.

There are four components to the project:

  • Bridge replacement and high-occupancy vehicle enhancements. There are three options under discussion for this component.
  • Eastside transit and high-occupancy vehicle enhancements
  • Pontoon construction to restore the bridge in case of a catastrophic failure. If the pontoons are not needed for emergency use, they would be used for the planned replacement of the bridge.
  • Lake Washington Congestion Management Program, which includes early tolling, active traffic management and travel time signs

More information on the project is available at here.
